Description

The TCW laboratory in the Department of Pharmacology, Physiology & Biophysics at Boston University Chobanian & Avedisian School of Medicine in Boston is looking for highly motivated and skilled molecular and cellular biologists or stem cell biologists to drives its efforts to translate the genetics of human AD toward therapeutic interventions.

The core program is to translate AD genetics and functional genomics into human brain cells both in vitro two- and three-dimensional models using human induced pluripotent stem cells (hiPSCs) from population and isogenic lines generated by CRISPR/Cas9 genome editing and in vivo (hiPSC/rodent chimera) systems in comparison with postmortem brains. In particular, the research will focus on deciphering the molecular mechanism of major AD risk variants as well as protective variants, associated genes, and identifying targeted therapeutics. The candidate will join a multidisciplinary and highly collaborative research team that includes computational geneticists, neuroscientists and pharmacologists in the department as well as Genome Science Institute and Center for Systems Neuroscience at Boston University.

The TCW lab is dedicated to advancing understanding of neurodegenerative diseases and aging, with a particular focus on Alzheimer's disease. Requirements

Eligibility

  • PhD in neuroscience, stem cell, regenerative biology, molecular and cellular biology or a related field

Preferred skill set

  • Experienced in handling stem cells (mouse or human iPSCs, embryonic stem cells)
  • Or, any cell type differentiation (2D or 3D cell cultures)
  • Or, genome editing, CRISPRa/i screens
  • Or, electrophysiology (Ca imaging, MEA, path clamping, in vivo ephys), animal behavior
  • Clear written and oral communication and detailed documentation skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines
